WordPress 2.5.1 Released

The WordPress team released a new version of their awesome publishing system.  They have packed over 70 fixes into this .1 release, one of which is a security fix.  They reccommend that you upgrade immediately, the vulnerability affects open registration (vulnerability is not public at the time of this post).

Upgrading is super simple, I follow the guide on the wordpress site.  Some things to remember, don’t delete your .htaccess file if you have customized it. Also if you have a custom .htaccess in the admin folder back that one up and when you are finished uploading the new admin folder put the .htaccess file back.  Don’t forget to put up a maintenance page, it could be something simple like in index.html that lets your users know you are working on the site.  The extended guide has a lot more steps but it is more thorough.  Just remember to keep WordPress updated.
