There have been a lot of rumors going around dealing with the 3G iPhone. The latest one off of yahoo news, speculates that it will be out on June 9th. There has been speculation about around the june 9th timeline. June 9th is the day that Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference starts and they have been known to release products at these events. AT&T also gave a hit about the 3G iPhone recently, sorry I cant find the link right now, saying something along the lines of, all our phones are going to be 3G this year.
Personally, the iPhone is over-priced. Just taking a guess here but 399$ for a 3G phone is way to much, and on top of that a two year contract. Now if it was 399$ for an unlocked iPhone with the ability to run any 3rd party applications that might be worth it. Now if the price was less, im thinking a max of 199$ with a two year contract, more people would buy them. Maybe it is that I personally don’t like AT&T that much and I feel that keeping the iPhone locked to that carrier was a bad decision.
The 3G iPhone would be a great step forward as EDGE is really slow, 100kbps slow. 3G with HSDPA can reach upwards of 1.5mbps. Though the loading speed of web sites also depends on mobile safari. So it is possible to still have slow loading web sites.
It does sound like a pretty good possibility for the iPhone on June 9th. Just remember that WWDC goes from the 9th to the 13th. It would more then likely be announced the keynote.
