Update: If you own a mac and garageband you can just edit the song and do send to phone (something like that). But thats only on a Mac (luckily i have one).
Today at lunch the topic of ringtones and their cost came up. I had always thought that you could cut up your own songs in itunes and put them on your iphone. Apparently not. So if I go out and buy an album or purchase it on itunes I have to pay another 99cents to put it on my phone? Thats super lame and such a greedy way to get money. I have the damn song sitting right here on a cd but because of the record companies and the mighty apple we have to fork over more money. Here’s and idea, don’t treat your customers like thieves. If any other company did this people would just buy there things from somewhere else. The tech oriented people can already do this and break your shitty reasons for “locking” the iphone. Even in general ringtones are expensive, 1-3$ for a 30 second clip of a song (make it 15 seconds so we can share them for free under “fair use”).
Chances are when iphone v2 comes out i’ll buy one. WWDC is next week so stay tuned for that announcement, well thats the rumor.

I agree that it is not fair nor right to charge the customers additional money for a ringtone that they can make themselves or transfer by bluetooth or another method.
thats like saying you are buying a computer that you own but you have to pay to use it.
makes no sense!
